Getting Started

M3 Data Recovery is a Windows data recovery software to recover deleted files, recover files from formatted, inaccessible, RAW, damaged, deleted or lost partition, etc. Recover RAW drive and then change RAW to NTFS/FAT32 without data loss. Recover data from Bitlocker encrypted drive, etc.

Support data recovery from hard drive, external hard drive, USB drive, flash drive, memory card, CF card, dynamic disk (Simple volume, mirrored volume, spanned volume, stripped volume and RAID-5 volume), etc.

How to Activate M3 Data Recovery

Enter M3 Data Recovery Home/Professional activation/license key you received and then click Ok button to activate M3 Data Recovery and then M3 Data Recovery become full version.

How to Use M3 Data Recovery

There are three recovery modules in M3 Data Recovery: Data Recovery, RAW Drive Recovery and Bitlocker Recovery.

Data Recovery: Data recovery module built-in M3 Data Recovery is used to recover deleted files, recover data from formatted, inaccessible, RAW, damaged, lost or deleted partition, recover data lost due to hard drive crash, virus attack, etc.

RAW Drive Recovery: RAW drive recovery module built-in M3 Data Recovery is used to recover RAW drive and then change/convert RAW to NTFS/FAT32 without data loss, after fixing, all data will be got back and then the drive is accessible.

Bitlocker Recovery: Bitlocker recovery module built-in M3 Data Recovery is used to recover data from Bitlocker encrypted drive due to deletion, format operation, inaccessible partiton, RAW partition, damaged partition, corrupted partition or partition loss.

How to recover deleted, lost files, recover data from inaccessible, RAW or corrutped drive?

Step 1: Choose Data Recovery module.

Step 2: Choose the partition which you want to recover data from and click Next to continue.

Tips: If reading data is very very slow, please check your drive and see whether there are bad sectors on it.

Download and install WinHex tool, run it with Administrator priviledge and use it to open RAW drive. If you can see "Unreadable sector" or "Cyclic redundancy check" error, it means that there are bad sectors on your drive.

After you confirm there are bad sectors, we highly recommend you connect external hard drive to your computer as internal hard drive and then try the software again. Otherwise, please contact our technical support for remote assistance ASAP.

If you only recover deleted files, please tick "Only show deleted files" option.

Step 2: Choose the formatted drive, tick Deep Scan option and click Next to continue.

How to recover deleted or lost partition?

Lost Partition Recovery is used to recover data from deleted or lost partition.

Step 1: Please click Find more partitions from Data Recovery module.

Step 2: Select hard disk where you lost partitions and click Next to scan lost partitions.

Step 3: Select the lost partition you want to recover data from and click Next to continue.

How to recover RAW drive or change RAW to NTFS/FAT32 without data loss?

Step 1: Select RAW Drive Recovery module.

Step 2: Select RAW drive you want to recover and click Next to continue.

Tips: If your hard drive is a external hard drive, please keep connection stable. If there is something wrong when reading data, we highly recommend you connect external hard drive to your computer as internal hard drive and then try the software again.

Tips: If reading data is very very slow, we suggest you try Data Recovery module. If reading data with Data Recovery module is still very very slow, please check your drive and see whether there are bad sectors on it.

Step 3: Please check the files in RAW drive before fixing RAW drive. You can also right click the photo or document and then preview to check recovery quality before purchasing.

Step 4: Click Fix Drive to recover RAW drive or switch to Data Recovery Mode in this window and then recover data from RAW drive.

Tips: 1. If the drive is still inaccessible after fixing RAW drive, please contact support@m3datarecovery.com with detailed problem.

2. If you cannot open recovered files with original names, please try this solution: Choose RAW Drive Recovery module, click Find more partitions, select the whole hard disk and then tick Deep Scan option. After the scan completes, there would be several partitions found, please select the partition whose recovery status is Good and then extract data. If this solution still fails, please contact support@m3datarecovery.com with detailed problem.

3. If you receive "Drive is not accessible, access is denied" after fixing, please modify the permissions on the inaccessible drive with following method:

Open Windows Explorer.
Right-click on the inaccessible drive and choose Properties.
Select the Security tab.
At Security tab click Edit to change permissions or click Advanced for special permissions or advanced settings.
Click "Apply"
Finally when Windows finishes setting permissions click OK to exit drive's properties
Restart your computer and now you should be able to access the inaccessible drive without problems.

How to recover data from Bitlocker encrypted drive (Including deleted or lost Bitlocker encrypted volume)?

Step 1: Select Bitlocker Recovery module.

Step 2: Select the Bitlocker encrypted drive you want to recover data from and click Next to continue.

Tips: If your Bitlocker encrypted drive are not detected by our software, we think your Bitlocker encrypted drive is lost, please check your Disk Management, if it has been become unallocated space, please use Lost Partition Recovery (Click Find more partitions) in Bitlocker Recovery module and refer to How to recover deleted or lost Bitlocker encrypted drive? If it doesn't have a drive letter, please assign a drive letter by Disk Management and then try our software again.

Step 3: Enter the password or recovery key and click OK to scan data from Bitlocker encrypted drive.

How to save current session for continuous recovery next time?

In the scanning result window, click Help menu -> Select Save Session to save current scan result for continous recovery next time.

FAQ

1. Recovered files are corrupted and cannot open, how to solve it?

Data recovery is a complicated case, its recovery result depends upon the specific data loss environment, please send your details about how to lose the data and how to use M3 Data Recovery to support@m3datarecovery.com for further analysis.

At the same time, please try this solution: Choose Data Recovery or RAW Drive Recovery module, click "Find more partitions", select the whole hard disk and then tick Deep Scan option. After the scan completes, there would be several partitions found, please select the partition whose recovery status is Good and then extract data.

2. Recovered files from Bitlocker encrypted drive are corrupted and cannot open, how to solve it?

Please try these solutions: 1. Check "Enable brute decryption" option and try again. 2. Choose Bitlocker Recovery module, click "Find more partitions", select the whole hard disk and click Next to continue. After the scan completes, there would be several partitions found, please select the Bitlocker encrypted partition whose recovery status is Good and then extract data. 3. Choose Bitlocker Recovery module, select Bitlocker encrypted drive and then check "Deep Scan" option to try again. 4. Contact support@m3datarecovery.com with detailed problem.

3. When recovering data from Bitlocker encrypted drive, I receive error message: Password or recovery key is incorrect after I enter the correct password or recovery key, why?

Maybe Bitlocker encryption metadata is corrupted so that the software cannot find Bitlocker encryption metadata and promopts incorrect password or recovery key, please contact technical support team for further analyzing.

4. M3 Data Recovery is not working, how to solve it?

Please send your detailed problem (How to lose the data, please attach disk management screenshot if it is RAW drive) to support@m3datarecovery.com for further analysis.

5. M3 Data Recovery stuck on rebuilding boot sector, how to solve it?

Please download a tool called WinHex. Run it as administrator, select Tools, select Open Disk, select corrupted drive and see whether there are unreadable sectors or not. If there are unreadable sectors (bad sectors), it is normal that M3 Data Recovery stuck when reading bad sectors, please wait patiently. If there is no new progress after a long time, please contact support@m3datarecovery.com or send your corrupted hard drive to a local data recovery service for help.

6. Data is not found by M3 Data Recovery, how to solve it?
