M3 BitLocker Loader for Mac is a simple and easy-to-use app which can unlock BitLocker encrypted drive and enable to read/write BitLocker encrypted drive after user provides the password or BitLocker recovery key, encrypt external drive with BitLocker on macOS 10.14/10.13/10.12 and Mac OS X 10.11/10.10/10.9/10.8.

Step 1: Double click the setup file and follow the wizard to install it.
Step 2: Allow system extension to install the component of M3 BitLocker Loader for Mac if you are using macOS 10.13 High Sierra and later version.
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General tab as shown in following picture, please click the lock to unlock and then click Allow "System software from developer "Benjamin Fleischer" was blocked from loading".
Full Disk Access is a new security feature in macOS Mojave and later version. Now macOS has forced apps to request certain kinds of system-level privileges for behavior that it generally allowed in previous releases. This way, only applications that are approved can gain access. If a user chooses not to give Full Disk Access, the drive on Mac will not be accessible.
How to enable Full Disk Access
Step 1: Go to Apple > System Preferences... > Security & Privacy
Step 2: Under Privacy tab, select Full Disk Access from the left column.
Step 3: Click on the lock icon at the bottom. You will be asked to enter the password if there is.
Step 4: Click and add M3 BitLocker Loader to this list.
Click M3 BitLocker Loader for Mac menu and select "Activate" or click Activate button on main UI. After that, enter the license key and click Activate.
Step 1: Insert a BitLocker encrypted drive into Mac computer.
Tips: If you receive message "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer. There are three buttons: Initialize, Ignore, Eject", please choose "Ignore".
Step 2: Select the BitLocker encrypted drive you want to unlock and then click "Open" icon.
Step 3: There are two ways to unlock BitLocker encrypted drive: File manager and Volume mounter.
Volume mounter option: Mount BitLocker encrypted drive in read-write mode
File manager option: Open BitLocker encrypted drive with built-in file manager
Step 4: Enter the password (or BitLocker recovery key) and click "Unlock" to unlock BitLocker encrypted drive.
If the password and recovery key are lost or unknown, M3 BitLocker Loader for Mac cannot break into BitLocker encrypted drive and access data, please refer to how to unlock BitLocker drive without password and recovery key?
"Remember this passoword in my keychain" option would save the password in an encrypted file so that you can retreive the password after forgetting it.
Step 5: After mounting BitLocker encrypted drive on Mac computer, BitLocker encrypted drive will be automatically opened, you can operate BitLocker encrypted drive like a Mac's native drive, including read, write, edit, delete, etc.
Step 6: After completing any operations with M3 BitLocker Loader for Mac, please click "Lock" button in M3 BitLocker Loader for Mac main interface to lock BitLocker encrypted drive and then click "Eject" button to safely remove BitLocker encrypted drive from Mac computer.
Preconditions for using BitLocker drive encryption on Mac
1. Prepare for an external drive, such as USB drive, flash drive, external hard drive.
2. The file system of the external drive must be NTFS, FAT32 or exFAT.
3. BitLocker drive encryption requires macOS 10.10 and above OS.
Tutorial to encrypt drive with BitLocker on Mac.
Step 1: Download and install M3 BitLocker Loader for Mac latest version.
Step 2: Insert an external drive (such as external hard drive, USB drive, flash drive) into Mac computer.
Step 3: Launch M3 BitLocker Loader for Mac.
Step 4: Click "Encrypt" button in toolbar.
Step 5: Select the partition which you want to encrypt and click Encrypt.
Step 6: Enter the password.
Step 7: Save the recovery key.
Step 8: Complete BitLocker drive encryption.
General tab - Check for updates automatically; Show program icon in status bar; Automatically open drive after unlocking; Language setting.
Notification tab - Notify when locking BitLocker encrypted drive; Notify when ejecting BitLocker encrypted drive; Notify when unlocking BitLocker encrypted drive; Notify when detecting BitLocker encrypted drive.
Advanced tab - Lock BitLocker encrypted drive on sleep; Automatically unlock drive after password is saved; Default volume mount mode: read-write mode (read-only mode).
Click "M3 BitLocker Loader" on the left top of the menu bar and then select "Quit".
Open Applications folder, find M3 BitLocker Loader, drag it to Trash and complete the uninstallation.
