[Solved] How to export/back up Bitlocker recovery key in Windows 7/8/10?

This article will provide two solutions to export 48-digit recovery key from Bitlocker encrypted drive in Windows 7/8/10 when Bitlocker encrypted drive can be unlocked. If you don't have the password or recovery key either, please refer to How to unlock Bitlocker encrypted drive without password or recovery key?

Solution 1: Back up 48-digit recovery key with Control Panel

1. Double click Bitlocker encrypted drive in My Computer or This PC and then enter the password to unlock Bitlocker encrypted drive.

2. After unlocking Bitlocker encrypted drive, open Control Panel and then click Bitlocker Drive Encryption option.

3. Locate the corresponding Bitlocker encrypted drive and click "Back up your recovery key" to export Bitlocker recovery key.

Solution 2: Export Bitlocker recovery key with command line

1. Double click Bitlocker encrypted drive in My Computer or This PC and then enter the password to unlock Bitlocker encrypted drive.

2. Open an Administrative Command Prompt.

3. Type the command: manage-bde -protectors X: (X is drive letter of Bitlocker encrypted drive) -get
